About Jennifer Sansfacon

I've have been involved in theatre and performance since an early age. My parents enrolled me in dance classes at the age of 3. My first role ever was as Santa Claus in the 4th grade. Speech and Debate/Forensics took up all my extracurricular time in high school. My first lighting design was at the age of 15. I've always had art in my life.

I started as a performer and found that I also loved design at my undergrad. I loved it so much that I went to grad school for lighting design... and then also fell in love with costume design.

​

As time went on, I found myself in higher education teaching design and technical theatre in all areas. I also started picking up directing. I loved mentoring my students and teaching them new techniques. I taught for 12 years before it was time to move on.

​

Currently I am the Artistic Director at Weathervane Playhouse in Newark, Ohio. I've been working at the theatre since 2008 and have been the AD since 2022. I absolutely love it here and cannot believe that I get to lead this company! When I was younger, I never dreamed that I would be an artistic director but now that I am I can't imagine doing anything else!

My goal is to mentor young artists and give them a step into the professional world. I love seeing ah-ha moments, times when they fully realize their abilities, experiences that push them to new opportunities, and so much more.
